The Youth Mental Health Project
Dobbs Ferry, NY
The Youth Mental Health Project educates, empowers, and supports families and communities so they will have knowledge, skills, and resources they need to support the social, emotional, mental, and behavioral health of youth. The organization believes every child’s mental well-being needs to be nurtured, and that mental wellness and physical wellness should be equally prioritized. The Youth Mental Health Project has partnered with mental health professionals to create educational materials and workshops for a better understanding of youth mental health development. In supporting families and communities, we hope to make early intervention a reality, leading to a reduction in the incidence and severity of mental health disorders among children, teens, and young adults.
How We Work Together
The Youth Mental Health Project and Laurel House, Inc. have a formal agreement to collaborate on:
- Promoting the development of The Parent Support Network (PSN) affiliates in communities where The Youth Mental Health Project and Laurel House/rtor.org are both active.
- Identifying “Family-Endorsed” mental health providers and related services in communities where The PSNs are established.
- Sharing lists of endorsed and vetted providers our users.
Improving Access to Mental Health Resources in Your Community
The Directory of Family-Endorsed Providers of rtor.org is a resource for families and individuals seeking expert support and care for loved ones with mental health concerns. All programs, facilities, and private practitioners featured in the Directory have been nominated by a patient, client, or family member, and vetted by members of the rtor.org Advisory Board and clinical staff. The Directory features mental health providers and related services from across the nation, with a special focus on the northeastern United States.
Family-Endorsed Providers displaying this seal on their provider profile page were nominated and endorsed by a member of The Youth Mental Health Project’s Parent Support Network.
The Parent Support Network
When a child or teen struggles with mental health challenges, parents remain isolated and don’t know where to turn for help. The Parent Support Network is a program of The Youth Mental Health Project that was developed to provide parent-driven, family-focused, peer-to-peer support in local communities. Each affiliate of The Parent Support Network provides parents concerned about their children’s mental health with a dependable and caring network, valuable peer support, and access to parent referred resources in their own communities. In-person meetings are open to all parents who have any concerns about their children’s (pre-K through college age) emotional or mental health.

Parent Support Network affiliates each compile a list of recommended therapists, psychiatrists, and related professionals and services in their region. Providers on this list are recommended by family members who attend parent support meetings and are vetted by PSN facilitators. Some, but by no means all, of these providers are also featured in rtor.org’s Directory of Family-Endorsed Providers.
