Go back to your childhood and remember the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Goldilocks wandered into the Bears’ home and found one bed that was too firm, one bed that was too soft and one that was just right. When it comes to choosing the type of life to lead, most people are faced with a similar situation. On one hand, there is option of the fast-paced modern lifestyle that is too chaotic and too unhealthy and on the other hand, there is the option of the ultra-spiritual wellness lifestyle that is too passive and too unrealistic. I know that most people’s ideal lifestyle (including mine) lies somewhere in between the two—somewhere that is “just right”.
Reading the blogs of other wellness writers, I feel isolated and held to an impossible standard. I know I can’t be alone in feeling this way. Why can’t there be wellness for the rest of us? A Wellness Blog for those of us who have a busy modern life and have no intention of changing it; or those who us who don’t feel like one with the universe or might even be mad at the universe. For those who know that wellness and recovery, especially in the context of mental health disorders is not a streamlined journey to nirvana but a rocky and difficult path. That is why I’m starting Just Right Wellness. To help others find optimal levels of well- being and happiness in the context of their unique lives.
Ultimately, it’s up to each one of us to find what combination works best. But, you don’t have to go it alone! Just Right Wellness will bring you weekly articles on various ways to take care of yourself mentally, physically, and socially in practical ways. There will be no one-size-fits-all advice or any impractical standards for anyone to try to live up to. This blog’s purpose is centered on finding what works best for your unique circumstances and finding ways to live up to your life’s potential.
